Hiya Kimberly - welcome to
planDisney!
Thanks for stopping by with a question for our team of panelists today - we love to help Guests like you make the most out of your magical
Walt Disney World Resort vacations!
Kimberly, if you've created a new My Disney Experience account and linked new
admission media (either a Theme Park Ticket or Annual Pass) to that account, you'll likely have a new finger scan the first time you enter a Theme Park using that account with the new admission media.
This is formally referred to as the
Ticket Tag system, and it is in place to make re-entry into the Theme Parks easier for Guests while also reducing fraudulent ticket use. Your fingerprint is converted to a number that is then linked to your admission media. When you use that same admission media to enter another Theme Park, your finger scan will validate you as the same person who used that admission media earlier in the day. I know from personal experience that sometimes technology glitches do happen, and for that reason, there are always helpful Cast Members at the Theme Park entrances to help you. Be sure to always have valid photo identification (e.g., driver's license) with you - this is a necessary backup if something goes awry.
I hope this answer is helpful as you plan for your next visit to Walt Disney World Resort. If your travels take you to
EPCOT, be sure to check out my favorite new attraction -
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind - it's a blast!
