When do we create our fingerprints that get scanned at the parks? We are visiting for the very first time in November and wanted to make shore. Also one member of a party is worried about her fingerprint being difficult to read if her fingers swell up

Hiya Grace - welcome to planDisney!

Thanks for stopping by with your question - we love to help Guests like you plan your very own, very magical, Walt Disney World Resort holidays! I'm so excited to hEAR that you'll be visiting for the very first time - get ready to make some magical memories!

Each Guest will scan a single finger upon entering any of the four magical Theme Parks, so the first time this will happen is the first time you visit one of the parks! You don't need to do anything special. The process is very simple - you'll tap your admission media linked to your Theme Park Ticket, which could be either a MagicBand, a Key to the World Card, or a Disney MagicMobile pass on your smartphone, and then will be asked to place one finger on the scanner. This will connect you to your ticket and you'll scan the same finger any time you enter a Theme Park for the rest of your visit. It's not really something that gets "set up" or created - you'll scan the first time and every time you enter a park.

I can understand the concern the other member of your party may have. Know that you can select which finger is used, but you'll have to remember which one! Also, there are accommodations available for Guests who have difficulty using the finger scanners. It will not limit their ability to enter the park with valid admission media, and a friendly Cast Member will be able to assist if there are any issues!

I had a friend with a skin condition which resulted in very faint fingerprints, so instead of scanning her finger, a quick photo was snapped so she could be verified as the owner of her ticket throughout the rest of her trip. I'm not sure if that's still the process, but the bottom line is that this is something that happens and thus there is a solution already in place!

I don't know what kind of thrill-seekers you might have in your crew, but I have to suggest that you try out my new favorite attraction - the brand new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind rollercoaster at EPCOT - it's a blast!
