Hi, Shawn! I'm so glad you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with this great question. And no, you are most definitely not crazy for wanting to take your precious little boy to Walt Disney World! My son has been visiting since he was just 8 months old. All it takes to have a wonderful trip for you and for your little guy is a little patience and a little planning.
Let's start with the planning, since that's what we moms do best. First, think about your baby's daily routine. What time does he nap? When does he eat? When do you put him down for the night? You won't be able to stick to his exact schedule, but if you can hit those eating and resting times as close as you can, you'll have a much better chance of success. Also, the Theme Parks can be overwhelming, so try to take a break midday and head back to your resort hotel for some downtime. And if you're going during a warm time of year, be sure to keep him cool and hydrated.
Now, the patience part. Don't try to do everything. Give yourself and your son some time to relax and just breathe. I've been blessed with a little guy who literally likes to stop and smell flowers. He's such a great reminder to me to slow down and enjoy our time together.
There's a wonderful resource for planning a visit for the youngest Guests on the Preschoolers page on the Walt Disney World website. It can help you decide which attractions to try, what resort hotels to consider, and lots more.
Even though your son won't remember this time, Shawn, you'll have precious memories of seeing him discover this amazing place. I hope this helps give you some ideas for a magical vacation with your little one. Please come see us again if you have any more questions!
