Ahoy, Karen!
Thank you for bringing your personal question to our crew at planDisney. We are living in a whole new world since the COVID-19 Pandemic, and I understand your concern. It’s certainly a balance to enjoy the travel that we love while navigating the ongoing global health challenges. I’m happy to share some guidance for you to make the best-informed decision for your family’s future Disney Cruise Line vacation plans and to be comfortable once onboard.
I spoke with a helpful Disney Crew Member today and learned that yes – you may request that your dining room meals be packaged. You can then dine in your stateroom or elsewhere on deck (such as the open-air decks near the pools, with casual dining tables intended for quick service meals). You will need to arrive at your main dining room location at the scheduled dining time to speak with your Dining Team and let them know of your intentions. Once you establish this relationship with your Dining Team you may be able to place evening orders in advance by looking ahead at the menus found in your Disney Cruise Line Navigator App for each day of your sailing. You could visit the dining room wearing a mask, to your comfort, for this interaction and then take your packaged meals to another location onboard where you feel more comfortable eating. One of the great differentiators of Disney Cruise Line, for my family, is the exceptional personalized service. I loved learning about this option for you and hope it gives you something to consider for your next adventure at sea. You will always have the
24-hour in-room dining option and many quick service locations throughout the ships available to you, too.
My family has also been cautious about our sailings since 2020, Karen. Be sure to visit the
Know Before You Go section of the
Disney Cruise Line website for the latest updates to policies and official guidance. Disney Cruise Line continues to encourage that all Guests be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to sailing. My family chose to wear masks in small spaces onboard such as elevators and public bathrooms to feel comfortable on recent sailings. While we were some of the very few Guests who chose to do so, we were made welcome and comfortable among other passengers we interacted with and did not feel self-conscious about our personal choice. You and your preferences are as welcome as can be onboard!
There are so many outdoor spaces to really relax and enjoy yourself on a Disney Cruise Line adventure.
On all ships, you’ll find cozy corners and expansive views at every turn. I love to take my morning coffee all the way forward to gaze at the horizon and watch us pull into a special port. Quiet evenings are magical in a relaxing lounge chair on the adults-exclusive decks, and there’s nothing like a long walk around the open deck just under the lifeboats on most vessels. If you reserve a stateroom with a verandah, you have a personal slice of open-air paradise available throughout your cruise. Be sure to check out the ongoing
Special Offers for a sailing that may call to you with a unique offer, as well as the longer-term planning of
itineraries into 2025.
I hope this was helpful in understanding what’s possible for you to choose to return to sailing, Karen. Please let us know what other questions you have as you chart a course for your next adventure.
Wishing you a happy and healthy cruise,
Amy
