Will the Covid vaccine be required to cruise with Disney? If they test for the antibody and it shows you do not have it after receiving the vaccine, are you excluded from boarding the ship? If so, is your money refundable? Thanks!

    Ahoy Sally!

So happy to hEAR that you are looking forward to a Disney cruise “for the first time in forever.” Do you wanna sail with Mickey? SAME! Like you, I am super excited about the idea of sailing the seven seas and all the magic that’s included with Disney Cruise Line. But learning to be patient and see when cruising will resume and what that will look like, I feel like Elsa having to “Let It Go.”

We simply do not know at this point whether Disney Cruise Line will be requiring passengers over a certain age to be vaccinated or not for sailings originating from the US. I know the rumor mill is churning about what that might be, but all that has been said on the subject is that when Disney Cruise Line returns to sailing, they will inform Guests of the enhanced health and safety measures and that Guests will be required to follow all posted instructions while sailing.

I understand that this means you might have to make a decision on booking without knowing exactly what the prevailing rules will be for when you set sail. For instance, I’m looking at making a reservation on one of the first Disney Wish sailings, which will begin booking starting on May 17-26 for Castaway Club members, followed by May 27th for the general public. I am well aware that Disney Cruise Line may not have publicized whether a vaccination will be required to sail at that point. While I am fully ready to make my reservation regardless, there will be others who may need to know that information. You just have to make the best decision for yourself.

I am sorry I have nothing definitive to tell you because I would love to know, too! But I think we are in a very fluid situation, and the Disney Cruise Line crew is still working very hard to figure out the path to a return to cruising. I would also imagine creating protocols that will meet the rules that the cruise industry has been told they must follow has been challenging to say the least.

So what I CAN tell you is to pay close attention to the Disney Cruise Line website as more details are released about sailing as well as the Disney Parks Blog which will share most recent cruise announcements.

I am convinced that when Captain Mickey resumes sailing, all that will be required to ensure the health and safety of the Guests and crew will have been worth it. In that moment, I can picture the image of Steamboat Willie as he took the captain’s wheel, whistling a happy tune. Or at least, that’s how I’m going to feel when I can sail again!

Sally, thanks for sending your question to planDisney. Come back anytime because we love helping Guests...it’s better than warm hugs! I hope when we do get the word about cruising requirements, you will decide to set sail with Captain Mickey and that you have an amazing adventure at sea!
