Hi there, Debra!
Walt Disney created a place specifically designed to allow families to enjoy spending time together. I have enjoyed meet-ups with my cousins at the Disneyland Resort too. I’m sure you and your cousin will have a marvelous time!
A nice thing about the
Disney Genie service is that you and your cousin could both input separate preferences and have unique recommended itineraries generated for both of you. Since Genie’s itineraries on the “My Genie Day” screen are only recommendations, you can look at the recommendations that Genie gives both of you and decide which suggestions you would like to follow together.
Tony’s Tip: You can tell Genie your preferences at any time before your visit. At 7:00 AM on the day you have
theme park reservations to visit the Disneyland Resort, Genie will populate a recommended itinerary for you. Throughout the day, you can update and tailor the itinerary as you refine your preferences with Genie. If you are not interested in a particular recommendation, remove that item from the list and Genie will better learn new recommendations to offer.
It is OK for you and your cousin to have separate
theme park reservations. As long as you both have the same starting park booked on the same day, you’ll be able to spend a magical time together at The Happiest Place on Earth! And while Guests visiting together don’t need to link their theme park admission to the same accounts, it can be helpful to do so. That is especially the case when you wish to book
Lightning Lane return times together using the
Disney Genie+ service or when purchasing
individual Lightning Lane return times for attractions not included with Genie+.
The easiest way to link your tickets together is to wait until after both of you have activated your tickets for the day as you enter the theme park. Then, link a ticket to your account from the “Tickets and Passes” screen accessed from the ☰ feature menu of the
Disneyland mobile app. Tap the ‘+’ button on the upper right-hand corner of the screen then tap the “Link Tickets & Passes” button. You can scan your cousin’s ticket with your device camera or simply enter the ticket ID manually. You can link your cousin’s ticket to your account. And your cousin can link your ticket with their account. That way, either of you can manage Lightning Lane reservations for both of you during your visit together.
I hope that helps with your preparations for your visit to the Disneyland Resort, Debra. If you or your cousin have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
Have a magical time!
~Tony
