Hi there, Laura! Welcome back to planDisney.
Just reading that you’ll be staying at
Disney’s Old Key West Resort caused me to relax and transported me to the tropics. I’m so happy to hear you’re counting down the DAYS until your visit to this beautiful resort, with its laid back vacation vibes, delicious food, and pastel colors. Some of my very favorite visits have included stays there, and I’m now dreaming of mornings spent on our balcony, enjoying a cup of coffee and taking in the resort views. Ahhhhhh, bliss.
You absolutely may use
My Disney Experience to add up to two room requests to your resort hotel reservation. It’s part of the
online check-in process from the desktop version of My Disney Experience, or the mobile app. If you’d like to make a specific request that you don’t see listed (the options can vary depending on resort hotel and room type), the friendly Reservations Cast Members will be happy to assist you;
reach out to them by calling (407) 939-1936. As you note, these request can’t be guaranteed, but I agree with you that it’s worth noting your preferences in the hope you can be accommodated. Now that my Mouseketeers are out of the stroller days, I always request a top floor room for the views. (Side note: we once stayed on the ground floor at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, but our patio overlooked the Sassagoula River, and you could not tear us away from that view!)
I hope you have a wonderful stay, Laura. I highly recommend dining at
Olivia’s Café – in fact, I love it so much that I encourage you to have both breakfast and dinner there during your visit. This restaurant is a hidden gem, with delicious food, great cocktails, and truly warm hospitality. For breakfast, the Banana Bread French Toast with Bahamian rum sauce and coconut whip cream is even better than it sounds (is that possible?!) and for dinner, my family members all order the Slow Cooked Prime Rib, though I’m partial to the Southernmost Buttermilk Chicken – don’t miss the cheesy Olivia’s Potatoes. While you’re there, pick a cocktail, any cocktail – you can’t go wrong, though you’ll find me sipping a Bahama Mama and humming a certain Beach Boys song.
Enjoy every minute, and while you count down to your tropical getaway, please come back and see us if you have any further questions.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
