Hi Ron!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Mom’s Panel. The nurse in me loves your question. In my mind, you can never be too prepared, especially while you are away from home.
A trip to the Walt Disney World Resort is usually so full of so much fun. With 4 Theme Parks, 2 Water Parks, and
Disney Springs, dining, shopping, and entertainment mecca. However, I’ve had the unfortunate experience of a sick child on vacation, and that trip, I wasn’t prepared.
I always recommend that you travel with whatever
medications (prescription and over the counter) that you take regularly. It isn’t a bad idea to have Tylenol or Motrin on hand as well. I have found that traveling with all my necessities gives me peace of mind and covers those “what if’s.” During the vacation where I had a sick child, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Gift Shop at our hotel did have some over the counter medication for purchase. I was able to purchase Motrin to help bring down a fever. They also had some other medications such as Benadryl and some cough and cold medicines. Some of the shops throughout the Walt Disney World Resort, such as the
Emporium at Magic Kingdom Park, also may have some medicine available. Medications for sale in Theme Park gift shops are typically located behind the check out counter, so find a cast member and they will be happy to assist you. You can also order over the counter medication through Amazon Prime Now or Garden Grocer, which will be delivered to your Resort Hotel. However, you may pay a higher fee since you are using a service.
First Aid centers are located at each of the Theme Parks. Nurses are available during regular Theme Park operating hours and can offer you bandages, over-the-counter medications, and other services based on need. If you need in-room medical services, pick up the phone in your resort hotel and press “Front Desk” 24 hours a day. Hopefully, you will never need it but also keep in mind offsite urgent care centers. AdventHealth is a walk-in urgent care center, and they provide complimentary transportation.
While I hope you never need these services, I’m hoping that you can rest easy knowing that help is out there.
See ya real soon!
