costume rules for Halloween party. Very confusing for what I have read can anyone help

    Hi Lou!

I completely sympathize with your confusion about the costumes allowed now at the Disney Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I am afraid that since these new rules have been in force my own family does not go since we are not sure about costumes that we wore in the past and it was always fun to have group costumes together. We had been attending for years so for us this is I am sure just a temporary break as it is a great party.

Please read through the Costume Guidelines that Disney has published both for general park attendance as well as the guidelines listed under the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween link above. They state that adults cannot wear costumes, however, they can wear "costume type" outfits. A large group of panelists will be donning some spots and ears to represent the 101 Dalmatians soon for one of the parties. They have ordered t-shirts so this type of costume is allowed for adults. Masks cannot be worn by anyone over 14 and all skirts or dresses must not reach the ground such as full length princess dresses. Capes also cannot go below the waist. You can also not wear anything with multi layers or puffy but I have seen some head into the parks. If you choose to have this kind of outfit then you will be required to under go more security measures. Obviously no sharp objects can be a part of any costume or weapons even if toy type. Star Wars plastic light sabers are allowed.

Children under 14 are allowed more freedom with their costume choices. All must be family friendly and they can wear some masks as long as they do not cover the entire face and their eyes are completely visible.

I understand the need for the safety guidelines but it does make picking out your Halloween costume a bit more daunting now.
