How much does it cost to rent a boat from Fort Wilderness? Is there fishing there? Thanks!

There are several ways to rent boats at Fort Wilderness. The main marina has pontoon boats as well as the little individual speed boats called Sea Raycers to rent. Guests must be at least 12 years of age to drive the small boats and at least five feet tall.  Younger children may ride as passengers. These rent for about $35 for a half hour and you are free to head to Seven Seas Lagoon for additional water space.  Be aware of all the other Disney boat traffic when you are cruising around the waters.  The pontoon boats are a great way to spend a leisure filled afternoon. They rent for about $48 for a half hour and you must be 18 years to rent these.

Canoes and kayaks are another way to enjoy the waters and these can be rented from the Bike Barn at Fort Wilderness. The rate is about $8 for a half hour or $12 for an hour. I suggest the hour as I just embarked on a canoe trip this past week and it was almost an hour to canoe at a nice pace all around the waters of the Fort. You can fit up to three adults in one canoe and fishing is not allowed from the boat.

Speaking of fishing, you can either reserve a Bass Fishing Excursion and leave from the docks at the marina or you can rent some fishing equipment and head out for the canals to try your luck.  You cannot fish from the main docks or the waters of Bay Lake but there are plenty of spots and plenty of fish in the canals.  The equipment is rented from the Bike Barn as well. Licenses are not required and bait (worms) can be purchased. All fishing at Disney is catch and release.

For the Bass Fishing Excursion you can call 407-939-2277 to make a reservation or check out the times and prices at www.disneyworldfishing.com.  I took the 10:00am trip this past week and caught six great bass which was fun!
