What would the cost of the DDP be per person (adult and child) if you are a DVC member staying on points?

    Hello, Janelle!

The 2013 Disney Vacation Cub Member cost for the Dining Plan, per adult, per night, is $55.59; children ages 3-9 pay $17.16 in 2013. This price includes tax, but does not include gratuity.

Depending on your family's plans for dining out, adding the Dining Plan could save your family quite a bit of money. Today, for example, my extended family and I dined with the Princesses at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, in Epcot's Norway; this would have cost almost $250 for five "adults" (three kids are over 9) before gratuity.  (Almost $50 per person.) At tonight's Quick-Service dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express, at Downtown Disney, I ordered the salmon fillet ($18) as my entree, plus the creme brûlée ($6) for dessert, along with a house-made, fresh-brewed iced tea (2.85).  Thus, I would have spent almost $77 on two meals today (before even including the value of a snack or my resort-refillable mug) had i not been on the Dining Plan. We got our money's worth today, that's for sure!

The bottom line is IF you plan on dining in the parks twice a day, on average, or even plan to enjoy a Signature Dining Restaurant (which is 2 Table-Service entitlements) you could save money by adding the Dining Plan and planning your meals carefully.

Some DVC Members choose not to add the DP because they simply don't eat in the parks that much, so they really don't save money by adding it. Think of your family's eating habits and interests, add up how much you think you'd spend without the DP, and compare that to the cost of the DP; you'll find the option that's right for you. :-)
