Hi Derek! Welcome to planDisney! It's great to have you stop by!
There is nothing quite like starting the planning process for your Walt Disney World vacation! There is so much to consider when planning out your stay, from accommodations to park tickets and everything in between. With the addition of Disney Genie+, there are some additional costs to consider when booking your stay.
If you are only looking to purchase park tickets for this trip, you can certainly head over to the
Walt Disney World website and input your anticipated arrival date to get up-to-date pricing for these tickets. I took it upon myself to check the price currently and for your family of four, it will run you $1,553.75 with an arrival date of August 18th. This price is for a 3-day ticket with access to one park per day. If you wanted to add the
Park Hopper Option to these tickets, the price will be $1,873.24 and allow you to visit multiple parks on the same day. Please note that pricing is subject to change at any time. When you go to book this yourself, the cost may vary slightly.
As of June 8th, any future ticket purchases will not have the option to add
Disney Genie+ prior to your visit. Each Guest will need to purchase the service the day of to use it. I recommend downloading the
My Disney Experience App to your mobile device before your visit. Then, starting at midnight on your park day, you can log on to the app and purchase Genie+ for your family. The process takes a matter of moments and can be done just before making your first Genie+ selection at 7 AM. I prefer this method because it may allow cost savings during your stay if you want the flexibility of not using it on a certain park day. The cost currently is $15 per person, per day, plus tax. Again, pricing is subject to change at any time.
One last thing to consider is where you plan to stay during your trip. If you want to stay at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you can combine your ticket purchase with your accommodations to form a vacation package. When visiting the Walt Disney World website, enter your travel dates to see what resorts are available during your time frame. If you decide to go with it, follow the prompts to add your park tickets thereafter.
Theme park reservations are required at this time to enter any of the four parks each day. Once you secure your ticket purchase, log on to your My Disney Experience account to link your tickets. Once your tickets are linked, select "Park Reservations" to choose the park you want to visit each day.
Derek, I hope you have a fantastic time during your trip in August!
