Hey There, Anthony!
"Welcome Home" to planDisney from a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member –– thanks for dropping by with your question. One of my favorite things about Disney Vacation Club Membership is that our Vacation Points can be used in
so many ways. While this obviously includes Disney Vacation Club Resorts, your Points can also be used to set sail with
Disney Cruise Line, explore the world with
Adventures By Disney, or even blast off to
A Galaxy Far, Far Away. Let me share a few details about using your Vacation Points for other Disney Destinations to help your plan your next visit.
While your Disney Vacation Points can't be exchanged for a monetary amount to use at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you can use those Points to book reservations at a non-DVC Resort with a
Disney Collection exchange. Just like DVC Resorts, you can view the Points Charts for these exchanges on the Disney Vacation Club website and use your Points to book the reservation. However, unlike DVC Resort reservations, you won't be able to book your Disney Collection exchange online. To view availability and begin the booking process, you'll need to give
Member Services a call at (800) 800-9800.
I do want to let you know that Disney Collection exchanges work a little differently than traditional Disney Vacation Club reservations, so here are a few details you'll want to keep in mind throughout the process. Each confirmed exchange reservation requires a non-refundable $95 transaction fee due at the time your reservation is confirmed (prices subject to change). Most Disney Collection exchange reservations are also subject to something called the
Rule of Four, which means you won't be able to book a reservation during the last four months of your Use Year if you plan to travel during that same year. And most importantly, when you make a Disney Collection exchange, you'll be converting your Vacation Points to Reservation Points. Once this happens, those Points can no longer be used to book Disney Vacation Club reservations. This means that in the event you need to cancel or modify your reservation, any leftover Points can't be used to make another DVC reservation. Don't worry, though –– your Points won't be lost. They can be used to book another Disney Collection exchange before they expire at the end of your Use Year.
Thanks for visiting planDisney, Anthony. I hope this helped to answer your question and I'm wishing you lots of DVC Membership magic during your upcoming visit!
Have a Magical Day,
Amy
