How can I convert my child's profile to their own individual account since they are 14?

    Hi Amanda, welcome to planDisney!

Life is full of parenting milestones. My children's first steps, first words, and first teeth are all highlighted in their baby books. Disney parenting milestones include a child's first Mickey Mouse hug, first DOLE Whip, and first My Disney Experience account. My family's Walt Disney World Resort scrapbook even includes my son's first haircut at Harmony Barber Shop.

Now that your teenager is looking to assume control of the My Disney Experience account profile managed by your account, they should start by creating their own My Disney Experience account. To do this, make sure you're logged out of your My Disney Experience account and click the green "Sign In or Create and Account" button followed by "Create an Account." Once your child has created their own My Disney Experience account, follow these steps to merge the profile in your account with their newly created account:

    1. Click "Update" next to your child's name on your Family & Friends List.
    2. Click "Share Planning with [child's first name,]" which appears in the upper right corner of the Update Information box.
    3. Enter the email address connected to your child's My Disney Experience account and click "Continue."
    4. Once your child accepts the email invitation to connect, all plans linked to the profile housed in your account will automagically transfer to their new account. This includes previously linked MagicBands and tickets. You will remain connected as Family & Friends, which means you can still view and make plans for each other.

Teenagers make great Disney sidekicks, Amanda. They can use their My Disney Experience mobile app to help book Genie+ Lighting Lanes, check wait times, and capture memorable selfies with Disney Photopass Lenses. Until your child turns 18, they cannot add a payment method to their account. This means they cannot purchase Disney Genie+ service or place a mobile food and beverage order.

Thanks for raising your child in the magic, Amanda. I hope their My Disney Experience account brings them a lifetime of magical memories.

    Plan magic; planDisney.
