Hiya Kathy,
Welcome to planDisney! I’m so excited that you are here and planning a vacation to the Most Magical Place on Earth! I have been fortunate enough to stay at the
Contemporary Resort before, and being able to walk to
Magic Kingdom is one of my favorite parts. It is such a quick walk and such a huge plus if your toddler is still in a stroller. Plus, Magic Kingdom has so many toddler-friendly attractions and experiences (my littles love to play in the queue at Dumbo) so it is never a bad idea to be close by!
Speaking of toddlers, as the mom of two toddlers, I spend a lot of time selecting resort hotels based on my children's needs. Is there enough space for our stroller and luggage in the room? Is there enough space for them to still freely move around the room and get out the wiggles before bed? Is there room for them to sleep? These are just some of the many questions that pop into my head. All Walt Disney World Resort Hotels can
provide full-sized cribs or Pack ‘n Play playards (subject to availability). These are great for toddlers who are up to 2 years old (maybe even 3 if they are small enough). For older and bigger toddlers, there isn’t really an alternative crib available. What the Contemporary Resort has that my toddler loves is smaller day beds! These are twin-sized mattresses and perfect for toddlers who aren't quite ready for a double bed. They are lower to the ground and easy for little ones to get in and out of. We like to put pillows on the ground just in case our daughter rolls off in the middle of the night, but Fred, a friendly Cast Member, shared with me that you can also request bed rails (limited number available) at the Contemporary if you feel more comfortable to add to the day bed. We haven’t used them before but we also haven’t had any issues since our daughter transitioned from a Disney bed to a Disney daybed, if that helps!
I hope this was helpful, Kathy! Before I let you go, if you decide to request a crib, playard, or crib rails, there currently isn’t a way to guarantee them in advance. Since they are available on a first-come, first-served basis, you will need to make the request when you check in at the front desk or once you have your resort hotel room using the in-room phone. You can call a Cast Member in
Tickets and Hotel Reservations in advance to make a request, but I find it best to wait until you are in person. I hope that you have the very best trip, making memories with your little Mouseketeer. Please come back and see us. We would be happy to help you with any planning questions you may have.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
