We are considering a a trip to WDW next year with our son who will be almost 3 at the time. Is this too young for his 1st trip to Disney? WIll he remember it? Also when would be a good time to go from a crowd perspective?

    Hello Carrie!

I was struck by your question because I feel like so many people have the same concern.  "When is the "right" time to take my child to Disney for the first time?"  My children all visited Walt Disney World for the first time by the time they were each 6 months old.  When people would ask, "Isn't that too young?", I would reply with something like this...  Even though they may not remember anything, they were entertained, smiling, happy and in awe while we were there.  As a mom, that's all that mattered to me.  So to answer your question,  I don't feel that your son will be too young to visit Walt Disney World for the first time.  Every child is different so there's no way of telling what he might remember.  I will tell you that I have a clear memory of an event that happened when I was 3 yrs. old and it happened at Disney!

If you can be flexible with your travel dates and desire lower crowd levels, then I would suggest the following times of year.  February is great as long as you travel well before President's Day weekend begins.  Also, the month of September is nice, after Labor Day weekend.  In my opinion, there are other great times as well as long as you avoid holiday weekends, summer, spring breaks and over the December holidays as well as New Year's Eve.

Please feel free to write back to me with any other trip planning questions.  I am happy to help.

Until then, I wish you a truly magical vacation!
