We are considering Wilderness Lodge or the Beach Club for our stay at Disney in early May. However, the potential closure for Stormaway Bay (scheduled opening April 15th) seems dicey. Would it behoove us to book Wilderness instead?

Lisa, a couple of years ago my family visited in May and we had the exact same dilemma.  My husbands entire family was staying at the Beach Club for a grand gathering, and I really worried that Stormalong Bay would still be closed when we arrived.  I have to say that the refurbishment was completed as scheduled for that year.  Stormalong Bay was open for business for our family vacation.

Is Stormalong Bay the main reason you are considering the Beach Club?  I mean, that particular resort has a lot of other things to offer -- walking distance to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios is a BIG plus, and being near the Boardwalk is nice too.  However, Wilderness Lodge is a really fun resort with a nicely themed pool area and great restaurants (Artist Point, and Whispering Canyon).

If you're nervous at all, I would recommend staying at Wilderness Lodge for this vacation and saving Beach Club for another trip.

Good luck, and have a magical vacation -- wherever you decide to stay.

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
