Welcome to planDisney, Teressa! Thanks so much for coming to us with your question today. I love visiting Walt Disney World in January, and I'm planning on going right around the same time as you next year. Since this is one of my favorite times to visit, I know that the weather can be a little chilly, so I'm happy to let you know how to best plan for swimming and other water activities while you're there!
The good news is that yes, the pools at all
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels are heated and open year-round, even in the winter months. So if you're feeling brave, or if you're from a colder climate and think 60 degrees is downright balmy, you're totally welcome to take a dip. Even on chilly Florida days, you'll often see guests out enjoying the pool, especially kids who don't seem to notice the temperature at all!
Now, when it comes to the
Disney Water Parks, things are a bit different. These parks can close if the weather gets too cold. For example, in January 2025,
Blizzard Beach closed on January 4 and January 9 due to colder temps that dipped into the 40s. That's definitely not the kind of weather most people want for sliding down
Summit Plummet!
Also, January is a common time for pool refurbishments, so it's always a good idea to check with your specific resort before your visit to see what kind of work is happening, if any. That said, Disney will always make sure at least one pool is available at your resort while others are under maintenance, so you won't be left without a place to swim!
So pack your swimsuit just in case, Teressa. You never know when the Florida sun will peek out and give you the perfect pool day!
