Hi there, Amanda!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! As a Castaway Club Member, you already know how amazing Disney Cruise Line vacations are! Well, let me tell you – the
Meditteranean Cruises do not disappoint; my family did this cruise a couple years ago and we loved being able to see so many things and still come back to the comfort of our stateroom each night! Not only do you get the amazing Disney Cruise Line service but you also get the rich history, culture and trip of a lifetime!
Visas are not required for travel to the Mediterranean. You will need valid passports for travel into Europe, so if all your travelers do not have one yet (or they are close to expiration), I recommend getting that process started. I do recommend giving yourself plenty of time to arrive in Barcelona – not only to see the sights there, but also to get acclimated to the time change. With a busy itinerary ahead, you definitely want to be fresh and ready to go when your cruise starts! You can either book hotel stays through your travel agent or on your own for before or after your sailing. Disney Cruise Line does offer ground transfers, but if you are there before your cruise, it's very easy and convenient to take a taxi to the port for embarkation.
Money can be exchanged on the ship if necessary, but if you book through
Port Adventures then the need for local currency is minimal as your excursion will be charged to your stateroom. But, we always carry local currency for souvenirs, snacks or gratuities at the port.
I do hope you decide to do this trip; you will not regret it! Please feel free to ask any more questions you may have!
Happy Planning!
Stephanie
