I am considering taking my daughter on a Disney Cruise for her 10th birthday. Do you think it would be better to take cruise in January on her birthday or wait until May? When would we be able to book for 2012?

    Hi Betty-Jo,

What a wonderful idea - that is the perfect way to celebrate the double-digit birthday!  I am guessing that you are debating between January and May 2012, and although it would be tough to wait those few extra months I would suggest waiting until May.

Disney Cruise Line has its fourth ship scheduled to set sail beginning in January 2012, so I imagine that this will be a very popular time to cruise.  It is unclear as to what itineraries the four ships will have during this time, but whatever it is it will be new and different - and therefore in demand!  By waiting the few months it will allow for any "kinks" in the new fleet to be worked out and not only that, but the weather will be much warmer during May.  I've cruised in January several times, and although i've always lucked out with nice weather, there have been times when it is downright cold!

I would expect that we will see the itineraries released, and booking opportunities open up for 2012 later this year (I'm guessing late October).

Hope this helps - good luck with your decision!
