We were considering staying at the new Art animation resort, but want to have a great 1st experience. Will all the amentietes be availabile? Are moderate hotels that much nicer? Thank you.

    Hi Jose!

The concept art for the new Disney's Art of Animation Resort looks fabulous.  Disney has also announced some great choices for the food court that will be there.  I think it will quickly become my favorite Disney Value Resort once it opens.  However, nobody really knows what it will be like until it opens.

Generally speaking, Disney Moderate Resorts have more service and amenities than Disney Value Resorts.  For my family, the biggest difference is a slightly larger room, much nicer pool area with a water slide, and a Table Service restaurant (all except Port Orleans French Quarter).  The biggest factor for the kids is probably the water slide which doesn't exist at any current Disney Value Resorts.  My favorite Disney Moderate Resort is Port Orleans Riverside.  At Riverside, one can rent boats, bicycles, and even go on a carriage ride.  It also has boat service to Downtown Disney, which is a lot of fun and relaxing, especially at night.

All of that said, if it is your first trip to Walt Disney World, I wouldn't worry so much about the resort unless you plan on spending a lot of time there.  If the resort is just some place to sleep and shower, then definitely go with a Disney Value Resort and save the money.  However, if you plan on taking a break from the theme parks and hanging out at the resort, then I do suggest upgrading to a Disney Moderate or Disney Deluxe Resort.

It's a hard decision.  Good luck, and write back if you have any more questions!
