We are considering a stay at POR--2 adults, 2 kids (age7 & 4). We are willing to upgrade to be closer to the buses and food court. Which building is that? I've heard about the "royal rooms". Where are they located and what amenities do they h

    Hi Melissa.

Thanks for visiting with your question.
Disney's Port Orleans Resorts are amongst my favourites at Walt Disney World. I just can't help but fall in love with the lush landscape of Riverside and its Royal Guest Rooms

Royal Rooms themselves include the same amenities as the other accommodation types at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. The difference is in the décor and theming. If you're traveling with any young Princesses, they'll surely love the added 'special touches' adorning the rooms including fibre-optic fireworks that light up your Queen Size beds' headboards with the touch of a button!

If you reserve a Preferred Room Location at Riverside, you'll be placed in one of buildings 14, 15, 18 or 27 which are in the Alligator Bayou themed area of the resort. It's just a short stroll from the Resort's main building including Food Court, Shop, feature pool area and the main or 'south depot' bus stop.

Should you decide on the Royal Rooms, these are conveniently located just across the Sassagoula River from the main building, via a foot bridge. To be ideally situated, I'd recommend that you place a 'request' on file for a room in Oak Manor or 'Building 90' which is closest to the foot bridge and closer to the East Depot bus stop. I stayed in this building location with my own teenage Princess just last December and it was great!

For a better look at a detailed layout of the resort, try visiting the portorleans.org website. It's a non-Disney "fan site" which has a great amount of information including photos and maps of the resort.

I hope this information is helpful to you as you make your resort decisions Melissa! If you have additional questions, please write me back any time! Wishing you a simply Magical time at Walt Disney World!
