Hi Alison,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question, my fellow Canadian!
I have a
Walt Disney World Annual Pass too. It makes it so much easier to just hop down to Walt Disney World Resort several times a year, so I completely understand why you’d be interested in purchasing one. When you plan your Disney Parks vacation as a family, you’ll have several options when making your reservation. First, you can check to see whether the
Passholder Program has any
Special Offers that would allow you to get a “room only” discount on your Walt Disney World Resort hotel room. I’ve often found these discounts to be even better than “Free Dining” or other package-based promotions so, if one appears, I encourage you to price out whether it might be a good deal for your family. If you go that route, you will need to purchase your family’s
Theme Park Tickets separately.
The good news is that you should be able to purchase your Tickets and make your Resort hotel reservations online. From what I understand, you can also add a
Disney Dining Plan to your stay, but you might need to
call Walt Disney World Resort in order to do so.
If you ultimately decide to go with a
Disney Resort Hotel Package, because everyone in that package typically needs to have the same entitlements (that is, same type of Theme Park Ticket, Disney Dining Plan, and so on), you’ll probably have to contact Walt Disney World Resort to make your reservation if you don’t want to purchase a multi-day Ticket for yourself. You’ll probably need to purchase at least a Single Day Base Ticket for yourself in order to purchase a Package, even if you’ve already got an Annual Pass and the only way to change Ticket options in a package is to book your vacation by phone.
I hope my answer helps you plan a wonderful year of Disney Parks vacations! Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
