Considering MVMCP on 11/29 or 12/1. I have two sons, 1 and 3 (almost 2 and 4). Will they enjoy the party at this age? I am also a little concerned about the late time.

Hi Carabeth! I personally love the special event parties in the Magic Kingdom.  For Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party it truly gets me in the holiday mood with the snow on Main Street and the hot cocoa and cookie stations throughout the park.

What we do when we take the grandchildren is to arrive early. With the event ticket you are able to enter the park as early as 4:00pm.  We then have dinner reservations at one of the restaurants in the park and enjoy a relaxing meal before heading out for the attractions.  With the age of your children Fantasyland will be a big draw for your time so concentrate on that area.  The park will start thinning out and the lines should diminish some.  Do a few attractions and then find a great spot to watch the wonderful holiday parade and fireworks. We usually leave the park and head back to the resort right after that so it is not a really late night for the kids.  Then we also don't have any early meals or events planned for the next morning so kids can rest.
