We are considering a Very Merrytime Christmas cruise for our entire family (children/grandchildren) as their Christmas gift. Will we be disappointed with a 3 night cruise? Cost and scheduling prohibits a longer cruise.

    Hi Pamela!

News of your cruise puts me in the holly jolly spirit! A Very Merrytime cruise with the entire family sounds like a magical way to celebrate the holidays. No matter the number of days, a Disney cruise makes the perfect gift. Hey, maybe I should put this on my wish list!

Believe me, I will gladly take a cruise of any length if it means getting to set sail with Captain Mickey and friends! But I totally understand if you feel like a shorter sailing may leave you longing for more days. With these tips, here's how we can hopefully keep that from happening:

    1. Have a game plan going in. Sure, everyone likes to be relaxed and spontaneous to some degree on their sailings. But when you have fewer days on your voyage, it's important to earmark which activities and entertainment are the most appealing to you and your extended crew. If Port Adventures in Nassau and Castaway Cay are high priority, then book those as soon as your advance booking window opens. Since you've cruised with Disney Cruise Line before, you probably know that your Castaway Club level determines how many days in advance you can make your reservations.

    2. Be prepared once you board to jump into all the fun onboard activities, using the handy Disney Cruise Line Navigator app as your guide. One feature of the app that I find super helpful is the ability to set reminders on events that I don't want to miss like deck parties, Bingo, trivia games, or karaoke.

    3. Don't miss out on some of the festive holiday-themed activities that will make the voyage feel like the family holiday gathering that it is! From Santa's Winter Wonderland Ball to Mickey's Tree Lighting Ceremony, the ship is constantly abuzz with fun seasonal activities and festooned with holiday decor. Plus, imagine cookies on Christmas Eve, caroling, and a gingerbread house certain to have your mouth watering!

    4. Get some souvenirs that will remind you of this Very Merrytime sailing. Tops on the list would be photos of the whole gang with Santa Claus himself along with Disney characters dressed in their holiday outfits.

If you apply some of these tips to your 3-night sailing, it may not make the cruise longer, but you will feel like you made the most of your days!

    Happy Sailing!
