We are considering driving up to Disney World on New Year’s Eve as the last day of a trip to Fort Lauderdale. Are the Disney theme parks usually extremely busy that day and is there particular activities in any of the parks that make New Year Eve special?

    Hi Angie!

The holidays at Walt Disney World are so festive! The parks are decked out with zillions of twinkling lights, thousands of bright red poinsettias, and hundreds of brilliantly decorated Christmas trees. I adore the Mickey shaped wreaths that adorn the lampposts.

New Year's Eve in the parks sounds practically perfect! While Disney has not officially announced specific entertainment or activities yet to ring in 2022, we do know three of the parks will be open until midnight. Chances are these parks, Disney's Hollywood StudiosEpcot, and the Magic Kingdom, will present a fabulous fireworks show. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for any announcements about special events planned for New Year's Eve. Check out this article, Ringing in the New Year at Walt Disney World, to see some of the events offered in past years. This piece offers a list of events outside the parks that were available on New Year's Eve in 2019.

Walt Disney World does tend to be a popular spot to celebrate on December 31st. The energy and excitement in the parks on a holiday gives a Cinderella-at-the-ball vibe that adds to the fun. You will need a Theme Park Pass Reservation to visit a park. Be sure to check the theme park availability calendar to see if the park of your choice has bookings open before buying your tickets.

Wishing you a wonderful celebration with Mickey!
