I am considering doing a Mexican Riveriara cruise solo . I want to be safe and have piece of mind any pointers. I may wantto do port shore excursions are these excursions safe, in an organized group, pick up/ bring you back to the ship

Hello, Richard! Thanks for visiting planDisney as you look into sailing with Disney Cruise Line!

A cruise to the Mexican Riviera sounds like an excellent option and a Disney Cruise vacation is a great choice for a solo trip. You'll have plenty of activities to choose from if you are feeling social and lots of spots on the ship for relaxing and recharging

When the ship is docked at a port of call, you can venture out to sightsee or engage in a fun activity with a group by booking a Port Adventure. This would be my recommendation for you. When you book a Port Adventure, you leave the travel logistics to Disney Cruise Line. Guests who book Port Adventures are given a designated time and place to meet on the ship for their excursion. Then, they are led off of the ship together as a group with those participating in the Port Adventure.

There are a variety of experiences to choose from, with some Port Adventures lasting a couple of hours and others lasting the majority of the time your ship is in port. At the end of a Port Adventure, guests are led back to the ship. Port Adventures are the perfect way to explore and have the peace of mind that if something unexpected comes along (like traffic on the way back to the port) Disney Cruise Line knows where you are and will get you back to the ship before sailing away.

As you dream about and plan for your upcoming vacation, I recommend that you peruse the Disney Cruise Line website to view the Port Adventures that are offered in Mexico. You can learn a lot by selecting "Read More" at the end of the first sentence that summarizes the outing and in the "Know Before You Go" section on each Port Adventure page.

Richard, if you book a Disney Cruise, you can begin to book Port Adventures once your cruise is paid in full and your onboard activity booking window opens. For first-time Disney Cruise Line guests, this is 75 days before your sail date. I hope this information helps!

One last tip before I go! If you are a social person, you might enjoy joining a sailing-specific cruise group on a popular social media site. Oftentimes, guests will create a group for their itinerary (including sailing dates in the title), and this is a place where people can get to know one another, share tips and advice, and discuss their upcoming cruise. In the last cruise group I joined, there were a few solo travelers who made plans to dine at the adult-exclusive restaurant, Palo, during the sailing. It might be something you'd like to look into!

However you choose to travel, Richard, I hope it brings you joy and many wonderful memories. Travel back to planDisney if you ever have more questions. My pals and I are here to help!
