I am considering doing the Happy Haunted 5k Trail run with my mother and daughter, which would be a first 5k for all of us. How difficult is this trail run for beginners? Are you able to walk the course? (We're aware of the minimum per mile pace)

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Melissa!

I am so excited to hear you are interested in running your very first 5k by participating in the Disney Happy Haunted 5k Trail Run. I'm especially excited to hear you are looking to make this a three generation family affair!

No worries about this being difficult due to the varied terrains being offered on this course. I think you'll find the grass, light sand and pavement easy to navigate. This 5k event is also untimed, so while the 16 minute mile pacing is the required pace for all runDisney events, you will be allowed to complete the race even if you are behind in pace. Walking is totally acceptable and many participants will complete this entire race at a brisk walk. This is a fun and fantastic event, so just remember to have fun and enjoy your experience running Disney as a family. You won't be disappointed in your decision to participate.

I also want you to know that by participating in this event you are eligible for the discounted three day park-hopper tickets being offered by runDisney. I can't think of a better incentive to give your first race a try.

I hope this information is helpful, Melissa! Please do not hesitate to ask any additional questions you may have as you plan and prepare for your first runDisney 5k.

    Happy Hauntings!
