Hi Marsha!
I am glad you stopped by with your question while resEARching an upcoming Disney Cruise Line vacation. As a previous cruiser and
Castaway Club member, you are aware of all the magic that a Disney Cruise offers, but it’s always fun to experience a new itinerary and possibly a ship you’ve never sailed on before.
Last fall, my family sailed out of New York on an itinerary similar to what you are considering, and it was wonderful! It was my boys’ first time to New York and I can guarantee they will not forget their first time to see the Statue of Liberty! We had an incredible departure from Manhattan just as the sun was setting giving us the most breathtaking views and photo opportunities. We thoroughly enjoyed our sea days as we sailed to the Bahamas where we could enjoy the onboard activities, entertainment and even the pools! We had fantastic weather and while I understand your concern about the rockier seas, we did not experience any movement that negatively affected our experience. Clearly, weather can always have an impact on any sailing, but we did not notice any significant difference between sailings from New York versus another port. I think Captain Mickey along with the other Captains of the ships do their best to steer clear of any rough waters whenever possible to allow Guests the best experience possible.
I highly recommend taking advantage of a new itinerary for your next Disney Cruise – and if you have yet to sail on the Disney Magic, you won’t be disappointed! We love dining at the newest onboard restaurant,
Rapunzel’s Royal Table and the live show, “Tangled: The Musical” is not to be missed!
Happy Sailing!
Stephanie
