We're considering booking a Disney Cruise. Being from Texas, a cruise leaving from Galveston would be very convenient. Other than the convenience, do you know of any pros or cons about sailing on the new Galveston trip vs. other ports?

    Hello Jason!

OH...I can't wait until September 22nd, 2012 when we will have a piece of Walt Disney World right here in Texas!!!!

Walt Disney World has made a very wise move in bringing The Disney Cruise Line to Galveston, Texas to set sail to the Western Caribbean. The six, seven, and eight night cruises are going to be truly MAGICAL on a beautiful boat called the Disney MAGIC.

Obviously, the biggest selling points for Texans sailing out of Galveston are the convenience of location and the travel time (and cost of travel time) are great decreased. Another pro is that the cost of sailing out of Galveston will be lower than other ports.

There are a few disadvantages in sailing out of Galveston. The Disney MAGIC is older than the brand new ships with less "bells and whistles." A major disadvantage is that the six, seven, and eight night cruises do not port at Castaway Cay, Disney's own private island. Another disadvantage is that the six and eight day cruises have limited days of travel; however, there are definitely more seven day cruises available.

So, here are the pros and cons lined out for you. Considering the pros and cons, I would still definitely book a Disney Cruise out of Galveston. The money you will save is significant, and your family will most definitely be able to experience the Disney MAGIC, literally!

If you have other questions, please let me know!

    Have a MAGICAL day!

    Wes
