We are considering becoming Disney Vacaion Club members. What are the pros and cons of the vacation club? We are a family of three.

    Hi Pamela,

I am happy to offer some thoughts on becoming a Disney Vacation Club member. My family is also a family of three, so I can speak to the experience for this family size.

I feel that it is best to consider your family and how you vacation to decide if Disney Vacation Club membership is right for you. If your family does not vacation often, perhaps only once every five or ten years, then membership may not be right for you. If you plan to vacation at least once every three years, and often to Disney parks, then membership may be a good choice for you. This is because Disney Vacation Club members can bank vacation points ahead one year as well as borrow vacation points from a year ahead, and when pulled into one use year, this allows you to use three years of vacation points within one year.

My family loves Disney Vacation Club for many reasons, including the flexibility of using our vacation points in at different times of year, at different resorts, and for different lengths of stay. We have stayed for a week in the fall in a two-bedroom villa at Disney's BoardWalk Villas when we had all of the grandparents visit Walt Disney World with us. For our next visit, it will just be myself, my husband, and my daughter traveling, and we are staying this spring for five nights in a deluxe studio at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Typically, we stay in a one-bedroom villa because we love the convenience of having both a full kitchen and a washer and dryer in our villa.

To further explore if Disney Vacation Club membership is right for you, I suggest that you call Disney Vacation Club at 877-382-7826 to speak with a cast member. I also suggest that you view the Disney Vacation Club video, available either online or as a DVD.

If you do decide to become a Disney Vacation Club member Pamela, it will be magical the first time you hear those words, "Welcome Home."
