What is considered a proper face covering? I keep seeing a mask with ear loops but doesn’t mention anything about scarfs that cover your face down to your neck? I will be going in December so I want to check before getting there

    Welcome to planDisney, Marco!

Thanks so much for sending your question our way--it's a great one!

While planning your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World, it's a good idea to check over all of the details, ensuring that your trip will be absolutely magical. What to pack is a smart place to start, including which face coverings you'll bring along on your vacation.

For updated information, take a look at the helpful page Returning to a World of Magic, then scroll down to the icon entitled Face Coverings and click on "Read More". There, you'll see a very detailed description of acceptable face coverings while touring theme parks, Walt Disney World Resort hotels, and Disney Springs. According to that post, "At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings." Requirements include the following: at least 2 layers of breathable material; fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin; fit snugly against the side of the face; secured with ties or ear loops, allowing for hands-free use.

You may have seen images of Guests wearing those popular face coverings with ear loops because there are so many fun designs now available. For example, shopDisney offers many themed face coverings in both child and adult sizes, bringing even more possibilities to your wardrobe. Much like wearing a different MagicBand to fit the season, you could bring a few with you or even purchase a new favorite at various locations throughout the parks and resorts. (My current favorites are those featuring iconic Disney noses and mouths carefully placed right in the center of the face covering. Stitch and Pooh are exceptionally adorable.) While touring, you can even use the My Disney Experience mobile app to see which ones are available at shops closest to your current location. Such a timesaver!

Happy planning, Marco! As you think of additional questions about your upcoming visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth, be sure to send them our way. We love to help!
