Ahoy, Julie!
Welcome back to planDisney! It's great to see a fellow Marylander who also loves a Disney Cruise Line vacation! I see your cruise departs very soon, and I bet you're in full packing mode. I'm happy to help as you finish packing those suitcases and prepare to set sail with Mickey!
Julie, on most longer sailings, Disney offers optional formal and/or semi-formal nights. These are great opportunities to dress up a bit with jackets, suits, dresses, and pantsuits among the
recommended attire for Guests. However, I'll also share that my experience has been that some families choose to participate in formal nights while others don't. You'll truly see a mix in the restaurants and around the ship that evening, with some Guests sticking with more cruise casual attire and others dressed in their finest attire - just like Disney royalty! On formal and semi-formal nights, my husband personally prefers khaki pants and a button-down shirt, but I've seen other Guests in suits and even a few tuxedos on previous sailings.
If you're planning to visit one of the
adult-exclusive restaurants during your cruise, please keep in mind that they do have a dress code. For these dining experiences, formal or semi-formal attire is recommended, but "polished" dress-casual attire is also allowed. We never miss a chance to enjoy brunch or dinner together while our kids play in the
youth clubs!
As you finish your packing, Julie, I'd also recommend taking one final glance at the
list of prohibited and restricted items. Even though we've sailed several times, I always find this to be a good refresher, and I like to check that there haven't been any changes or updates since our last cruise. This will help ensure smooth sailing on your embarkation day!
Julie, I hope this information has been helpful and that you enjoy making many magical memories at sea during your upcoming cruise! If you have any other questions, please stop by to see us again here at planDisney!
SEA ya real soon!
