Hi. Are there any considerations for people with a DAS who just may not be able to make rope drop to try and get a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance? I've been watching and it seems like they are gone in minutes. Thinking of canceling the trip.

Hi, Margaret!  Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

As the mom of a child with special needs, one of the things that I love the most about the Walt Disney World Resort is the way that they go above and beyond to make the magic accessible to everyone.  When I visit the Walt Disney World theme parks with my son who has autism, we use Disability Access Service (DAS).  Disability Access Service is intended for guests whose disability or medical condition prevents them from waiting in a typical queue environment.

Currently, a virtual queue system with boarding groups is being utilized for guests hoping to experience the new attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.  Because of the boarding group system, Disability Access Service functions a little differently at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance than it does for other attractions.  Even if you will be using Disability Access Service, everyone in your group who wishes to ride must first join a boarding group in order to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.  Once your boarding group is called, you may speak to a Cast Member at the entrance of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.  With your Disability Access Service pass, the Cast Members will let you bypass the standby queue, but you must first be in a boarding group that has been called.

You are correct that boarding groups have been filling quickly.  To have the best chance at being assigned a boarding group, everyone in your party who wants to experience the attraction really needs to be inside Disney's Hollywood Studios before the park opens for the day.  I would recommend following the Disney Parks Blog to see if the procedures for accessing Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance change at all prior to your visit.  If the procedures stay the same and you have concerns about a disability affecting your opportunity to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, you could certainly reach out to Disability Services.

Margaret, I hope that you will be able to experience all that Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge has to offer.  Wishing you a vacation of galactic proportions!
