Is the Connect@Sea costly? How does it work?

    Hi Mary!

Ahoy!  Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  It appEARs that you have a voyage with Captain Mickey planned and that is SO EXCITING!!  An amazing adventure awaits you onboard and you will make memories that will last a lifetime.

I am glad you stopped by with your question about the onboard Internet packages!  One great thing about going on a Disney Cruise Line vacation is that you can truly disconnect while onboard and at sea, but I do understand that not everyone is able to do that….my husband included!  While I know he would love to simply “check out” for a week, we have found it is better for him to keep up with things at the office so that he doesn’t return from a vacation to unexpected surprises!  So, to ensure that he can keep up with work (and I love to check in on social media), we always purchase an Internet package to use while onboard.  As with any internet service, there have been times we have had connection issues, but overall, we find it to be very reliable.

While always subject to change, the Connect@Sea packages are currently as follows:

    Small – 100MB data - $19
    Medium – 300 MB data - $39
    Large – 1000 MB data - $89
Pay As You Go - $0.25 per MB data

So, as you can see, the packages do range based on data needed and you can always start with one package and if you find you need to purchase another package you can do so.  There will also be a Connect@Sea representative onboard who can help you with determining how much data you may need as well as help you to set your devices to ensure you aren’t accidentally using up data…I learned this the hard way one voyage!

Please note that you do not need an internet package to use the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app which you can use while onboard by connecting to the DCL-GUEST network.  The app will have all sorts of helpful information while onboard such as schedules, port information and deck plans!  And if you are like me and always end up having to do laundry while onboard, the chat feature will alert you when your washer or dryer is finished running so you can keep on enjoying your time onboard!

Have an incredible voyage, Mary!  Say hi to Captain Mickey for me!
