Welcome, Stuart!
We're thrilled you've found your way to planDisney. With your visit just a few days away, I bet you are eager to put the finishing touches on your planning. There are so many magical tools at your fingertips designed to make your visit as smooth as Aladdin's flying carpet, from the
Disneyland app to
Mobile Ordering to
MagicBand+. Let's navigate our way to the magic together.
If you are accustomed to visiting Walt Disney World, I'm glad you've stopped by with a question, as there are some nuanced differences in the use of MagicBand+ at Disneyland. First things first, Disneyland has the functionality to support MagicBand+, but not the original MagicBand. The MagicBand+ includes some of the same hands-free features of the original, but also offers enhanced experiences, customizable color themes, and haptic vibrations as you navigate through the parks, adding a little extra pixie dust! At Disneyland, MagicBand+ can be used to tap into the Main Entrance Gates and check in at Lightning Lanes if you have added Premier Pass, Single Pass, or Multi Pass to your tickets. Disney PhotoPass photographers can also give it a quick tap to link any photos taken that day directly to your account. At the moment, MagicBand+ at Disneyland is not capable of opening Disneyland Resort hotel rooms or charging purchases back to your account.
I love the convenience of the MagicBand+, and you won't find me without it out and about in the parks. If you have the original version and are interested in purchasing an updated one, I'd suggest waiting until you are on property since we are so close to your visit.
World of Disney in Downtown Disney has a huge selection to choose from! You can also find them in most retail locations throughout the parks and resort hotels.
Once you have them in hand, open up your app to connect them to your account. Head to the three-line icon in the bottom right-hand corner and scroll to MagicBand+. Tap the "+" in the top right-hand corner to link a new band. You will see the button to "Open Scanner to Link", and then you simply hold the band to the back of the phone. Once they are linked, you click into each individually and assign it to a particular ticket that is already linked to your account.
Can I also suggest popping into
Disney Wonderful World of Sweets for a seasonal treat or two while you are strolling through Downtown Disney? You can even Mobile Order them from your app to not waste a single magical moment. I've got my eye on the Evil Caramel Apple and a classic Peanut Butter Square for my next visit!
I'm wishing you an unforgettable visit filled with pixie-dusted moments, Stuart! If you have any more questions, we are always here at
planDisney to chat and share our best tips and tricks.
Magic awaits!
