    I am still confused about rules for FL grandparents buying tickets for their grandkids. Does the FL resident have to be present at the gate to validate the kids' tickets, or can they verify their residency when they buy the tickets online?

    Hiya, Mary. Welcome to planDisney. 

    I think it is so incredibly thoughtful that Grandma is purchasing Walt Disney World Theme Park tickets for the grandkids. There really is no better gift than the gift of a magical Walt Disney World vacation. 

    The Florida Resident purchasing tickets for kids under the age of 18 will need to show their Florida proof of residency for those tickets to be considered active. This can happen in 2 different ways. She can verify her proof of residency online at the time of purchasing the tickets. If online is the way she'd like to do it, it's very important to have all of the documents needed at the time of purchase because this is the only time it can be done online. Here's what she'll need to have on hand -a valid Florida driver’s license (must have a Florida address), a valid Florida state-issued ID card (must have a Florida address), or a valid Florida-based military ID. There are other ways to show proof as well, those are just the most common. During the online check-out process, she'll want to look for the section “Your Florida Resident Information” and fill that out. The other option is to verify her residency in person. This can be done anytime after the tickets are bought and does not need to be done the day of using the tickets. It can be at a time that is more convenient to her if she isn't planning on going to the parks with the grandkids.
