Hi Brooke. To receive the discounted price on the Photo Pass CD, you do need to purchase it in advance of your vacation. Here is the link to the pre-purchase website which details the process of doing so. I have personally chosen to purchase this Photo Pass CD and have been very pleased with our decision. The quality of pictures are superb and our whole family can now be in the pictures! In total, we wound up with over 250 pictures on our last CD (no limit). We ordered ours just a day before our vacation and it took just a few minutes. However, in case you are hesitant, you are always able to still purchase the CD while visiting the parks or after you return. However, the 20% discount would no longer apply. Hope this helps!
