Is it common for the rope drop to open 30-45minutes before they advertise the park to be open? What time would you recommend parking by sho you can get in line for rope drop rides?

    Hi Becky,

Ohmygoodness! Your visit to "The Most Magical Place on Earth" is just a few short days away! You have to be practically bursting with excitement!

Yes, you are correct that sometimes "rope drop" (or official park opening, in "Mickey speak") happens before the posted theme park opening hours, but I wouldn't plan on that. My family likes to arrive early, and we usually just pack a portable breakfast with us and enjoy that along with the festive atmosphere while we anticipate our magical day. I usually suggest arriving around 45 minutes before the theme park opens, or closer to one hour beforehand for Magic Kingdom Park. That should allow you time to park, make your way to the entrance, go through security and ticketing, pick up a map and Times Guide, and be ready for the magic and fun to begin. Now if you really want to be one of the first Guests there for the day, I'd suggest arriving even earlier than that. If the theme park does happen to open early and Cast Members allow Guests in even earlier than expected, I'd consider that your first bit of extra pixie dust for the day.

Since most Guests like to sleep in a bit on vacation, you'll find the first hour or two of the morning to have the shortest wait times of the entire day. I'd encourage you to take advantage of that, then begin using your previously scheduled FastPass+ selections mid-morning.

I'm so glad that you brought us another great question, Becky, and hope you'll visit us again if you have any other questions. Have a truly magical vacation!
