Welcome back to planDisney! I love a vacation that combines the fun and relaxation of a sailing on Disney Cruise Line with the magic of a stay at
Walt Disney World. I'm happy to give you some ideas on how to plan your celebratory vacation, which I believe will mark a special birthday for you.
DCL itineraries for October 2027 were just released, and reservations open this week (the first week of September 2026), so your timing is perfect.
I would decide on the sea part of the vacation first, since the cruises have specific departure and debarkation dates and times. And, because you want to fit the vacation into about a week, I'd suggest looking at three- or four-night sailings from Port Canaveral. The
Disney Dream has both available within your time frame with the
Halloween on the High Seas theme.
Port Canaveral is a little over an hour away from Walt Disney World, so transfer between the two is a breeze. The Fort Lauderdale port is about three hours away, which is slightly more complicated.
We live in Florida, so we always drive to and from the ports and Walt Disney World. But the friends we travel with have used the DCL transportation a number of times and always find it convenient.
Once you choose your cruise dates and ship, you can build your
pre- and/or post- cruise plan, including transportation and your Walt Disney World stay.
Here's another suggestion, Tatiana: Because there are a lot of moving parts to a land and sea vacation, I would consider using a Disney-certified travel agent to assist with booking. I always utilize a travel professional when I book a cruise or vacation package, even though I've been sailing Disney since 2012 and a Walt Disney World regular since the mid-1990s. It's their job to take the stress out of the details for you.
If you don't have a travel professional, ask friends and family for recommendations. Or search online for an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner who is "Earmarked by Disney." That means they have been trained and certified by Disney, even though they are independent. And, generally, travel professionals' services come at no additional cost to you.
For the land part of your vacation, you can take in all the fall fun at the Walt Disney World Resort, including the
Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
You'll be celebrating a milestone birthday, so maybe you'll want to pamper yourself with a visit to the
Grand Floridian Spa. Or toast your day at
Sangria University. Or dine at one of the Walt Disney World
signature restaurants.
