Hey there, Jana!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thanks so much for your fabulous question. The Walt Disney World Resort is truly a destination for the young and young-at-heart. There is something for everyone at any age, and since we are all there to soak up the magic, I have never seen anyone judged for experiencing something that makes them happy in the parks.
As someone who often went on Disney vacations as a teen, young adult, and newlywed without children, I would say it is extremely common for all of these age groups to
meet their favorite Characters! Now having a toddler of my own, I am not even ashamed to admit that I have had my autograph book signed and have posed with Characters while my son was taking a nap! I also have many adult friends who are super excited to meet Characters on their own and even make it a hobby to see how many new ones they can meet each trip.
What I love about Disney vacations is that I can bring out my inner-child, forget my worries, and just plain have fun. Being in my 30's and wearing Mickey Mouse ears might get me some funny looks if I was in my local grocery store, but obviously it's totally acceptable and common on a Disney vacation, just like meeting Characters!
If your daughter truly does not feel comfortable meeting Characters, there are still SO many ways for teens to enjoy the parks. There are thrills, amazing snacks, great entertainment, fun merchandise, and even new interactive experiences on the
Play Disney Parks app.
I hope this helps, and I know that you will both have an unforgettable vacation!
