Comming down in Jan 15 to watch my son run his first marahton got the gold cheer package was wondering if someone could tell me the easiest way to get to the magic kingdom from port orleans french quarter and what time I should leave the hotel

    Welcome back, Julie!

I hope you are excited to watch your son run his first marathon in the most magical place on earth during the 2015 Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna®. Purchasing the Gold ChEAR Squad Package is an excellent way of ensuring you will have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of your favorite runner. Magic Kingdom is also a great spot to spectate all the action!

Here is what you'll need to do to get to Magic Kingdom Park from Disney's Port Orleans - French Quarter on race morning.

    1. Take the provided Race Event Transportation from your Resort Hotel to the Start Zone Area at Epcot®. I actually suggest you leave at the same time as your son and ride over with him.

    2. From the bus drop-off walk to the Epcot® Monorail Station and board the Monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center. From the Transportation and Ticket Center, board the Express Monorail to Magic Kingdom.

    4. Proceed to the entrance of Magic Kingdom and head toward Cinderella Castle and the reserved viewing area for ChEAR Squad members. Entrance into Magic Kingdom will not require admission and opens at 5:30am.

My biggest piece of advice would be to leave with your son by 3:15am when traveling from Disney's Port Orleans - French Quarter. This Resort Hotel can hit some considerable traffic along Lake Buena Vista Blvd. when heading to the Start Zone Area. In addition, you will want to arrive at Magic Kingdom before it opens at 5:30am as this is the most popular location for spectators.

By following these tips, you should be in a great spot to see your son. Please reach out to me if you should have any further questions. As the runDisney Specialist on the Panel I am here to help!

    Get ready to ChEAR!
