Do you have any comments on the travel provided by Disney? One being the transportation from the airport to the resort. I have heard that we could be on the bus for hours and our luggage arrives much later. Another being to and from each park.

    Hi, Christina!

Let's start with everyone's favorite reason to stick with Disney's buses:  Its FREE!  You can easily rack up hundreds of dollars by renting a car with rental fees, tolls, and gas.  By using Disney's transportation, your total will be ZERO (well, you might tip your Magical Express driver a few bucks!)

Leave the driving to Disney!  How nice for your family not to be printing out maps or dragging along your GPS.  All you have to do is follow the signs at the airport to the Magical Express, and sit back and enjoy the ride.   Once at your resort, buses, boats, and monorails will zip you around property, again for FREE!

OK, the downside:  Yes, the Magical Express takes a bit longer.  You might stop at up to 3 resorts on your way, and you are told the ride could take as long as 1.5 hours.  In reality, count on about an hour.  Your luggage can take up to 3 hours if you use the baggage service, but you can certainly forego the luggage service.  Just toss away the yellow luggage tags at home and retrieve your own bags once arriving in Orlando. You can load your luggage on your motor coach.

As far as buses to parks, even when my family rents a car, we still use Disney transportation to the Magic Kingdom.  It is simply the fastest way there.  (We do drive to the other parks.)

Bottom line:  If you do not mind driving, do not mind spending the extra money for a car, then renting a car IS the faster way to zoom around property in most cases (with the Magic Kingdom exception!)  For a more relaxing, economical trip, skip the rental car.  You can always grab a taxi for few dollars (taxis readily for hire at all resorts) if you are in a hurry or are going resort-to-resort for a meal.

Whatever you let Mickey be your chauffeur or you get your own car, enjoy your time in Walt DIsney World!
