Hi, Karla!
I’m so glad to hear you’re planning a visit to the Happiest Place on Earth with your little ones. The magic is just around the corner!
I have a few favorite locations to relax and get a break from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks. At Disneyland Park, a nice, long ride on the
Disneyland Railroad has been known to lull my kids to sleep. You’re generally free to ride as long as you like while the train makes 20-minute loops around the park, as long as it’s not close to the end of operating hours or during the fireworks show. The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is a dark attraction on Main Street, U.S.A. with soft theater-style chairs and air conditioning if your Mouseketeers need a break from the outdoors.
At Disney California Adventure Park, the back of the gazebo under the
Silly Symphony Swings is a shady place off the beaten path to sit on a bench and enjoy a serene view of the water. The benches aren’t near the main walkway to attractions or food, so they are often unoccupied. If you’re in search of an indoor spot, head over to the
Animation Academy--the main lobby there features mesmerizing images, videos and music from favorite Disney films in a darkened setting. The lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, accessible via the Grizzly Peak area, can also provide a comfy place to relax with its many couches and arm chairs.
I hope these ideas are helpful, Karla. Please write back to us with any other Disneyland Resort planning questions you have!
Wishing you magic,
Courtney
