Hi Carl,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! A week at the Walt Disney World Resort makes me happy. And of course, I always enjoy greeting a fellow North Carolinian!
Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is a lovely resort. The grounds are beautiful and I love the Royal Guest Rooms. It sounds like you have a great parking plan but the
monorail schedule might be helpful. The monorail typically operates 30 minutes prior to earliest park opening and until one hour after latest park closing.
On our last visit in July, however, we ran into some difficulty trying to get to Epcot for an 8:10 a.m. breakfast reservation at
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. While the monorail between Magic Kingdom and the resorts was operating early, the monorail to Epcot was not. So I took some photos of the posted monorail signs at the Transportation and Ticket Center. At that time, the monorail to Epcot hours were listed as 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The resort monorail times were listed as 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. (service to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney's Contemporary Resort). The Express Monorail (direct service to Magic Kingdom) hours were posted as 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.
Carl, as always, monorail hours can change or the monorail could be temporarily out of service. To be sure, just the monorail schedule while there. When you check, be sure to consider your final destination since there are three monorail lines. Also be aware that transportation from Magic Kingdom right after the
Happily Ever After fireworks show can be hectic!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
