Hey Anu-
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I totally understand the rain dilemma. We visited Walt Disney World Resort one summer and it rained hard everyday. Usually the rain that falls is for short periods of time but it can last all day. If that is the case then here is what I would suggest.
1. Bring ponchos/rain jacket and wear water-resistant shoes. We have used a spare pair of tennis shoes,
Crocs and flip flops for our feet. Rain jackets are more manageable and more expensive.
2. Avoid Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park because the animals will hid and there is very little shelter
for Guests. Magic Kingdom Park has many places to shop and attractions to attend.
3. Visit Epcot. Everything is inside making it the best theme park to explore during a Florida downpour.
4. Plastic bags including the self-locking type are helpful to protect your personal items.
5. Outdoor attractions do not shut down unless there is thunder and lightening.
6. Bring an extra pair of shoes and socks for your feet sealed in a bag. When the weather gets better
you’ll be glad you have dry footwear.
If you get caught in the rain at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park then head to Dinosaur, It’s Tough to Be a Bug, Finding Nemo-The Musical, Festival of the Lion King,
Conservation Station at Rafiki’s Planet Watch, merchandise locations and restaurants.
Disney Dad Tip: When it rains you may also meet Mickey and Minnie at
Meet Favorite Disney Pals at Adventurers Outpost. Seeing the boss will put a smile on your face during a rainy day.
Anu, enjoy making many Magical Memories!
