I am coming to WDW on 9/25/10. We are staying at SSR. I was hoping to go to DD the 1st nite for dinner to either Rainforest Cafe or TRex. No ADR's available at either. Do they take walk-ins at all? Also not sure how to get to Chef Mickey's for 7am ADR? Thx

    Hi Michelle,

It's possible that you'll be able to get in Rainforest Cafe or T-Rex without a reservation.  People often overbook and forget to cancel, leaving tables vacant.  However, I would keep trying to get a reservation.  You'll also want to have a back up plan.  I would hate for the first night of your vacation to be a bust because you had to wait 3 hours to get in to a restaurant.  I recommend Earl of Sandwich or Wolfgang Puck Express as a counter service alternative if the wait seems too long.

As far as your Chef Mickey's reservation, you'll want to take the earliest bus to the Magic Kingdom.  I believe the first bus will pick up guests at 6:30, but check with the cast members at the front desk to verify.  Usually, there is a cast member at the bus station as well.  Be sure to tell him/her where you are headed.  Sometimes, for early reservations, they'll drop you off directly at the Contemporary.  Otherwise, once you get to the Magic Kingdom, simply hop on the monorail or take the walking path to the resort.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
