Coming to WDW on 3/3 staying at AoA, LKS. 1st trip for our kids, girl, 10 and boy 9. 2nd guessing our reservations, and wondering if we would enjoy our stay at a moderate resort instead? Would the children of these ages enjoy a moderate resort more? Pools?

    Hi, Joan!

    This is a fantastic question!

Walt Disney World's newest resort, Disney's Art of Animation Resort is a truly spectacular Value Resort, with theming throughout the entire property that's sure to amaze your entire family. The food court alone made my jaw drop when I toured it this past June...it's that impressive.

That being said, if a stay at a Moderate Resort is within your budget, you might want to take a look at Disney's Port Orleans-Riverside, where designers were sure to keep an eye on every detail while planning this resort. The pool, especially, is a wonderland for 9- and 10-year-old kids, and kids of any age, especially with the 95 foot long water slide that heads right into the "swimmin' hole" at Ol' Man Island. On the night my 11-year-old son and I checked in this past fall, he immediately asked if we could book a stay at that resort again for our next trip (this from a kid who has grown up staying at Disney Vacation Club Villas...PO-Riverside is that impressive!)

Other Moderate Resorts also have water slides into their pools, each with fantastic theming to match the resort itself.

Bottom line? You won't be disappointed at either AoA or a Moderate Resort at WDW. However, if the difference in price from AoA to a Moderate is within your comfort zone, take a serious look at the other resorts and determine how much time you'll carve out of your travel plans for some pool time. If that's important in  your upcoming stay, you might want to move over to a Moderate, where the pools are even more spectacular.

Send more questions as you think of them, Joan; I love to help!
