We are coming to WDW 8/30-9/4, we want to stay at a moderate resort but want the best waterslides and was hoping you'd have a recommendation on which to stay at and what to request so we don't have far to walk to the bus or pool area. Thanks so much.

    Jeremy:

The good news about staying at a moderate are the pools and slides each provides.  For the money, the pools at these resorts will provide a memorable experience for your family.

Each moderate pool offers something unique: Coronado Springs' Mayan temple rises out of the pool and sports a modern slide and pool area appropriate for all ages, in my opinion.  Caribbean Beach Resort appeals to the youngster in us all, and I feel, is best for kids from toddler to pre-teen as it houses not only a waterplay area for toddlers, but a fun swashbuckling pool for want-to-be-pirates.  Port Orleans (both Riverside and French Quarter) offers slides that remind me more of a carnival or theme park.  We went when our kids were in the upper elementary, and they enjoyed the pool more than anything else we did!

You didn't mention if you were bringing children or not, but, solely based on water play, I recommend Caribbean Beach Resort if you have toddlers to elementary age; Port Orleans for elementary age to teens; and Coronado Springs for elementary to adults.

Lastly, as far as room requests go, I find that you'll do better by telling Disney what you'd like in a room rather than a specific building, because if that building fills up, Disney may only be guessing why you wanted that location.  If you'll list your requests in the order that you want them (bus stop first; pool second, for example), they'll try to make it happen for you, but keep in mind they can't guarantee it.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
