Congratulations on researching the
My Disney Experience app in advance - if used wisely, it's indeed a life-saver! You can use it to
book FastPass+, grab a last-minute dining reservation, and use the
Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering system. I can't go to the Walt Disney World Resort without it!
The
Theme Parks have a wi-fi system in place, and its use is complimentary for Guests, but I always use a data plan as a backup because some spots at the Theme Parks don't get a wi-fi signal as sturdy as I'd like it to be, and I don't like to miss any of the fun. My advice to you is to choose a simple data plan and use it as a backup so you can use the My Disney Experience app as much as you'd like!
